Notes on the fairies themselves:
They range from one inch to two inches tall. The one inch fairies are known as "Rainbow Babies" and the two inches fairies are known as the "Swinging Fairies" because they come in a small wooden tire swing!
All fairies are handmade and all products used in the making are recycled and/or fair trade. The felt used for the jackets is called EcoSpun and is made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. Due to their delicate features and detail work they are not suitable for children under three.
The fairies come in many styles and all are unique. If you wish to order one simply email ctrembla@uvm.edu and I will send you an order form with color options and a price quote.

I have a recipe book that describes exactly how to confect 25 different birthday cakes. One of them is called the "Vert, Vert", french for "Green, Green". It was a cake that Claude Monet's cook used to make for his birthdays. I have made this recipe approximately never as it has no less than 37 ingredients and requires about 7 hours of ones time. However, I am enamoured with the pistachio cream, the mint green marzipan, and most importantly the "green, green-ness" of the baked fantasy.
So I decided to name my fairies after this enchanting cake that once was the painter's favorite. Each time someone calls upon me to create a fairy friend for them I remember this cake and all the times it must have been served in his French gardens.

I am a maker of fairies. At a recent show I sold two of my fairies to a little girl with long blond braids and her cousin. The mother contacted me to thank me for one of the loveliest toys her girls had ever had and to inform me that they now refer to me, as they hold up my creations lovingly, as "The Fairy Lady".
..."Well," I said, "I suppose their are worse kinds of ladies you could be."
And so I have finally decided to embrace technology despite my world of fairies and create a blog. And so here it is, and here they are, my fairies and my world.

In the book a little girl named Hepatica learns about seeing "with clear eyes" inside a magical forest. Some of the characters include the Tree Girl and the Littlest Forest Child so I made some beautiful fairies based on the lovely tale.
